Twilight – sidetracked

While Kristen Stewart talks about how Twilight is such an amazing thing because it brings people – so many people – together on a common ground, and it’s like we’re all part of the saga in a way, sweet Mr. Pattinson suggests that “twilight fans are literally on the verge of being clinically insane.” None of them are wrong though, it is a powerful thing, and I’m not lying when I say I do feel like I’m part of it, even though my face isn’t in the movie and my name isn’t on the list of acknowledgements at the end of any of the books. You see, that’s the power of a good book. You read it, love it, and feel like you’re part of it. When the book is being made into a movie, you care, because it’s become something near and dear to you. When Bella is about to be cast, you care, cause most of us (girls) see the world through Bella’s eyes, and for the purpose of the journey, we become Bella. It is a very odd position to be in, and it’s not surprising it’s been such a big hit and sucked so many people right in. Nor is it surprising it’s been such a controversial phenomenon. Few phenomenons come without any form of controversy, and it would be scary if it didn’t. Imagine living in a world where everyone would be on the same side of a phenomenon. Everybody liked and disliked the same things. No only would it be less fun, it would be scary. I’m not trying to defend haters, they’re just trolling, but everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I am allowed to love the Twilight Saga just as much as you are entitled to hate Lutefisk.

However, there are some things that I can’t even justifiably express my frustration about. People: Actors are people too. Just because they aren’t real to you, that doesn’t mean they aren’t real. There are many too many trolls out there, and it makes me genuinely sad to admit I’m one too. I can’t put my hand on my heart and say I’ve never said anything stupid or wrong about someone, thinking they won’t hear it anyway. We shouldn’t care so much about who’s going to hear what we say. If we think it could be damaging if the wrong person heard it, we shouldn’t say it at all. It’s okay if your favorite didn’t walk away with the Academy Award, it’s okay if you didn’t care for the latest song of some charting artist, but that’s business. Attacking the person is a completely different matter altogether, and I think we should all just stop.

There’s a lot of bad things going on in the world today, but the change has to start with me and you. We can’t change the world until we start with the (woman/) man in the mirror. I can work on my reaction when someone tells me they don’t like something I love, but we need to be careful. Strong language doesn’t have to be profanity to be hurtful and pry like daggers. I’m not sure what I intended for this post to hold, but it sure wasn’t supposed to be this political. I’m not saying we should pull out the cane for whenever someone says anything harsh, but I’m saying be careful using those words in regards to other people. If you know how much words can hurt, you’re far from the only one.

We need to be good to other people, not because we’re looking for rewards, but because it’s right, and because it makes us and others feel good.

So, when all that is said and done, let’s backtrack to the time we were actually speaking of twilight. This is a really cool interview, for those who are interested, featuring Bill Condon, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner (it’s also where the quotes in the first paragraph came from):

And here is a list of the songs and artists featured on the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). The final three tracks are from the Deluxe Edition. I know this is old news, but I just bought the album today, and wanted to express my love for the record by sharing this beautiful list with you.

1. Endtapes – By The Joy Formidable
2. Love Will Take You – By Angus & Julia Stone
3. It Will Rain – By Bruno Mars
4. Turning Page – By Sleeping At Last
5. From Now On – By The Features
6. A Thousand Years – By Christina Perri
7. Neighbors – By Theophilus London
8. I Didn’t Mean It – By The Belle Brigade
9. Sister Rosetta – By Noisettes (2011 Version)
10. Northern Lights – By Cider Sky
11. Flightless Bird, American Mouth – By Iron & Wine (Wedding Version)
12. Requiem On Water – By Imperial Mammoth
13. Cold – By Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz
14. Llovera – By Mia Maestro
15. Love Death Birth – By Carter Burwell
16. Like a Drug (Bonus Track) – By Hard-Fi
17. Turning Page (Instrumental) – By Sleeping At Last
18. Eclipse (All Yours) [Bonus Track] – By Kevin Teasley

I have to say I think it is so incredibly awesomely sweet that the track “Flightless Bird, American Mouth”, which was featured in the prom scene of Twilight, has now returned to be featured in the Wedding Scene of Breaking Dawn Part 1. Something about that just calls out Full Circle to me. “Eclipse (All Yours)” is also back, previously performed by Metric, now an instrumental featuring piano and cello. I haven’t figured out where in the movie they will for a fact play this track, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the credits. It’s a little too sweet.

So there you have it, some ranting about being good and some twilight trivia. Hope you liked it, but if not, that is totally fine too. My words can take the critique you have for them, but please don’t make it personal. I’m not sure I would be able to deal with that.

Btw, does this count on my #NaNoWriMo #wordcount?
Too bad.

Pick your shit up

Like loads of other film aficionados and I do every day, I headed over to this morning. Like any other solicitous human being, I was a little worried to read the headline “Kristen Stewart Injured on the Set of Snow White and the Huntsman!” under the NewsDesk section on the front page. According to some source, it was nothing serious, but it was nonetheless appalling to see all the cruel comments on the post. There is a difference between not being a fan of someone, and being downright nasty. People get hurt all the time, no need to cry about this incident in particular, but calling her names, claiming she deserved it, that God only wanted to teach her a lesson… that’s very Westboro Baptist. Seriously, People.

Let it Rain

In case you haven’t heard, Bruno Mars just came out with a new single, Let it Rain (video at the bottom of this entry). It is the first single from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 Soundtrack to be released, and it was specifically written for this film – which, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past six years, should be pretty clear from the lyrics of the song.

Now, I’m extremely partial in this matter, because I’m obviously wild about twilight, and I also happen to love Bruno Mars – so of course I love the song. Strictly lyrically speaking, I adore the song. I love the reference to morphine, which is very appropriate. The reference to religion and Bella’s parents are also rightfully there. For the most part I think it seems like Bruno has done his homework. He nailed the feeling of desperation and commitment that is no doubt a big part of Bella and Edwards relationship, both lyrically, musically and simply by using his own anguished voice.

Still, there is a but. I can’t quite see where in the movie this song would fit in. We all know that Edward is a troubled soul, but the whole idea with Breaking Dawn is that they (Bella and Edward) are finally certain of their relationship, and they just KNOW that they will always be together. This is why I don’t think the excruciating desperation for Bella not to leave him is a hundred percent appropriate for a song in this film. Sure, the lyrics of any song can’t always match the sentiment of the scene in it’s entirety, but keeping in mind that the song was specifically written and composed for this film, I think it is a little too intense.

Don’t get me wrong, I know they are like totally co-dependent, and would die if they ever were without the other, and that they would do anything for each other. Still, at this point, they KNOW that’s not going to happen, and it’s not even a question. In fact, the most desperate parts of this song remind me more of Bella during New Moon than anything else.

Anyways, like I said at first, I really like this song, and depending on what scene they put it in, it could be really freakin’ good! I guess we’ll all just all have to wait and see.

Only 50 more days, and we will see more of this!

MTV movie awards 2011 recap

Jason Sudeikis, this years host, opened the show with a short film based on the Hangover Part II, featuring Chelsea Handler, Taylor Lautner, Justin Bartha and Eva Mendes, with scenes from Black Swan, 127 Hours and the Social Network. Included in the sketch was also a couple of Friday ringtones, a yoga workout, twilight land, a four-fingered hand and a Team Jacob tattoo. Following the short film, Sudeikis’ opening monologue included jokes on Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Snooki, Ashton Kutcher and Arnold Schwarzenegger to name a few.

The first award of the night, best male performance, was presented by a groping Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. To no ones surprise, mr. Cullen aka. Robert Pattinson, took home the trophy, beating amongst others fellow British nominee Daniel Radcliffe and Twilight co-star Taylor Lautner.

The evening included three world exclusive sneak peeks on upcoming movies. First off were Elle Fanning, Steven Spilberg, Joel Courtney and J.J. Abrams to precent the world premiere of a clip from Super 8. Later in the show Emma Watson followed, presenting on behalf of the Harry Potter cast an exclusive 30 second scene from the final installment in the Harry Potter series. Finally, and perhaps most famously, Kristen StewartRobert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner brought forward the first, world exclusive, official trailer of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I.

The second award to be handed out this evening was presented by the cast of Crazy, Stupid, Love, and given to Tom Felton, defending his title as Best Villain from 2010. A pleased Felton told the audience the award would look really nice in his downstairs toilet.

Introduced by Jim Carrey wearing a fancy green suit, Foo Fighters then entered the stage to perform “Walk”. The show also included performances from Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz, as well as a handfull self-composed movie theme songs, presented by Jason Sudeikis himself. The host performed his theme songs for The Green Hornet, No Strings Attached, Just Go With it, The Karate Kid, Buried and Jackass 3D, poking fun at the movies along with their casts, including a “golden showers” scene, Seth Rogen‘s weight loss, and Emma Stone who participated in the No Strings Attached duet.

Halfway through the show Chris “Captain America” Evans appeared to remind the audience to vote for one of the most prestigious awards of the night: Best film. The nominees were Black Swan, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, Inception, The Social Network and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

While the Best Jaw-dropping Moment was awarded to Justin Bieber for his movie Never Say Never, Robert Pattinson created such a moment when he and onscreen fiancée Kristen Stewart won the award for Best Kiss. Moments after being handed the award he claimed he didn’t feel like kissing Stewart, who for once seemed ready for if not eager to kiss her co-star, and took off to kiss his onscreen rival Taylor Lautner. After plating a solid kiss on his lips (seeing as Lautner wiped his mouth after the incident, it’s highly probable that they did indeed liplock) he planted another one on Taylors forehead before kissing his hand, returning to Stewart, telling her he wanted to “take [her] backstage” and exiting the stage. The Best Kiss award was presented by none other than Stewarts preview onscreen lover, Ryan Reynolds and recently controversial Blake Lively. Sudeikis introduced Lively saying they thought she was the real Blake, although she would not confirm it. The presentation of the best kiss award also involved lacer boners and Donald Trump.

The 2011 MTV movie awards turned out to be a big night for the cast and grew of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. No only did they take home awards for best male performance and best kiss, they were also awarded for best fight, best female performance and best movie. Xavier Samuel, Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Pattinson received the award for best fight, with Pattinson adding to the acceptance speech that “I ripped [Bryce’s] head off… And now [she’s] pregnant.” Kristen Stewart took home the award for best female performance, conquering the stairs to the stage with comfortable vans, replacing the black pumps she wore at the carpet. As the Twilight Saga: Eclipse yet again was awarded best movie of the year, Taylor Lautner gave a nice, humble and concise acceptance speech on behalf of the entire cast, most of which were on the stage with him, and crew.

The perhaps most prestigious award of the night however, would be the annual MTV Generation Award – this year awarded to Academy Award Winner Reese WitherspoonPatrick Dempsey, Robert Pattinson and Chelsea Handler were the lucky three to present her with the award, some (perhaps the much wanted British guy) less prepared than others. Pattinson told a few jokes, a few of which no one got, another one of which Witherspoon had to add the punchline herself upon receiving the award. After thanking the family and fans, she went on to tell aspired entertainers that it is possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show, and that being good isn’t so bad. She also told the audience that in her days, you’d be embarrassed about making a sex tape, and if you were ever to take naked photos of yourself, you’d hide your face.

Incredibly cute Alexys Nycole Sanches received the award for best line in a movie for her line “I wanna get chocolate wasted!”, and totally humble, well deserving Emma Stone took home the award for best comedic performance for her leading role in “Easy A“.

All in all the MTV Movie Awards 2011 was, unsurprisingly, a big night for the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. In addition to being a very humorous and entertaining night with a lot of big names, it was also a big night for word premieres. While Harry Potter fans only have about six more weeks till they see the final movie in the series, Twihards will have to wait till November 18th, or till the next in a series of presumably a few dozen trailers are released.

Breaking Dawn Part I – Trailer update

For anyone who still haven’t heard, tomorrow (June 5th 2011) is the annual MTV movie awards and the official release of the first trailer for the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I. Earlier this week, Summit Entertainment released a first glimpse at the film as part of a promo for the award show. Yesterday the Twilightsource put out a rather cryptic combination of hints from some of the cast members concerning some big surprise said to happen during the red carpet. What are you expecting to see in the trailer? What do you think this allegedly huge surprise is going to be? Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments.

Oh so Random?

Eg kjenner meg litt “stuck” i Videregåande.
